GIVE IT A REST
LAWSUITS FILED BY SUFFERERS OF the wrist disorder carpal tunnel syndrome
against Apple, AT&T, DEC, and IBM are bound to make manufacturers pay more
attention to ergonomics when disigning the next generation of products. In
the meantime, a few products already on the market can help you take care of
yourself.
User Friendly Exercises is a $59.95 package developed by FingerTip Info,
a division of Technically Innovative Computer Accessories. The DOS Version
emits a low frequency tone, and the Windows Version automatically pops up.
The TSR provides simple exercises designed to reduce back pain, eye fatigue
and hand and wrist damage. The exercises are demonstrated on screen by a
model.
EyerCise from RAN Enterprises is a similar product. The $69.95 package runs
on Windows and OS/2. Like User Friendly Exercises, it enforces periodic
rest breaks that include stretches and eye training exercises.
